The Manor
& Castle Healthy Living Network was formed in April 2003 following
a successful bid for lottery funding under the New Opportunities Fund.
The aim of the Network is to empower the communities in the Manor
& Castle areas of Sheffield to improve their social , physical
, environmental and emotional health.
The objectives
will enable local people to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence
to make informed choices, access local resources and take action for
themselves on their concerns and interests and so lead to local solutions
to local problems.
The network
is made up of organisations offering support and activities for all
ages of the Manor & Castle communities from young children to
the elderly. They also support people with low level mental health
problems, learning difficulties, drug dependency and social isolation.
Their
services include, for example, advice on diet and healthy eating,
exercise, training, practical support and advice, social activities
and access to employment agencies.
